PRIX GALIEN BRIDGES
Biopharma Innovation Without Boundaries
December 05, 2025 – Nobel Forum, Stockholm
The inaugural Prix Galien Bridges Awards celebrated the most exciting innovations in biopharmaceuticals and devices in the nordic and high-growth European and Middle Eastern countries. A highlight of the ceremony was a heartfelt tribute to Nobel laureate Bengt Samuelsson, a founding member of the Prix Galien committee and the awarding of the Prix Galien True North Prize that bears his name and legacy.
The Galien Bridges Forum that preceded the awards took place at the illustrious Nobel Forum at the Solna campus of Karolinska Institutet—home to the Nobel Committee for the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine. The Galien Bridges Forum brought together an exceptional roster of nordic and european thinkers and leaders to address the most pressing challenges facing global health against the backdrop of the tectonic shift brought about by artificial intelligence and evolving technologies.

Through a set of prestigious annual awards, unique, internal stakeholder dialogue, public events, and persuasive published research and communications, we will help make the case for innovative biopharma science as a driver of balanced development and for the transformative knowledge and business practices that add to quality of life for patients and more efficient use of scarce health resources. We recognize the importance of leveraging these strengths to enhance the science base in selected small and middle-sized markets that have yet to secure their potential in attracting the scalable investments necessary to bring new cures and treatments to a wider circle of patients.

Prix Galien Bridges Committee Chair, Mikael Dosten at the Inaugural Awards Ceremony
We deliberately use the term “Bridges” given our aim to – through this initiative - facilitate expertise and knowledge transfers around the Nordic region’s innovation precedents and best practices with five additional strategic countries (comprising the plus in Nordics+): Austria, Israel, The Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain. Countries in the region with existing, active Prix Galien programs – Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, and Italy – have pledged their collaboration and solidarity.

1 The Nordic countries are a geographical and cultural region in Northern Europe and the North Atlantic. It includes the sovereign states of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden; the autonomous territories of the Faroe Islands and Greenland; and the autonomous region of Åland.
