The Prix Galien Poland is the most prestigious healthcare award on the Polish market. It brings together innovative pharmaceutical companies, scientists, research institutions, and creators of groundbreaking medical products and technologies. The committee, composed of distinguished figures from the world of science, is chaired by Professor Cezary Szczylik, M.D., Ph.D.

“For decades, Prix Galien has been the only internationally recognized award highlighting which achievements in the research of new molecules, drugs, and technologies represent a true breakthrough,” said Professor Cezary Szczylik. “I am pleased that Prix Galien Poland holds a strong position within the international Prix Galien community, highlighting the significance of new, innovative technologies and products. We do this for ourselves, for patients. After all, we will all be patients one day,” he added.

During the prestigious gala, awards were given in seven contest categories, recognizing the most exceptional achievements in healthcare innovation.

Prix Galien CEE Lifetime Achievement Award for Jerzy Starak

The Lifetime Achievement Award honored Jerzy Starak, a visionary leader whose lifelong commitment has transformed the landscape of Polish and regional healthcare innovation. Through decades of strategic investment, he created an integrated ecosystem combining biotechnology, pharmaceutical production, and scientific research - enabling Poland to build modern therapeutic capabilities, produce active pharmaceutical ingredients domestically, and strengthen national drug security.

Today, every third medicine used in Polish hospitals comes from Polpharma, while more than 40 active pharmaceutical ingredients manufactured in the country significantly reinforce Poland’s health sovereignty. His philanthropic initiatives - such as the Horizons Program and the Polpharma Scientific Foundation - continue to advance scientific excellence and support young talent. The Galien Forum Central and Eastern Europe 2025

The 2025 edition of the Galien Forum Central and Eastern Europe marked an important step in the event’s evolution, expanding into a two-day program hosted across two simultaneous stages. With nearly 20 thematic panels, more than 80 speakers, and participation from leading researchers, clinicians, biotech innovators, and policymakers, the Forum strengthened its position as one of the most important platforms for dialogue on medical innovation in the region.

Among the highlights of this year’s program was a keynote delivered by Dr. Mehdi Touat, MD, PhD, of the Institut du Cerveau – Paris Brain Institute, whose lecture on advances in neuro-oncology attracted strong interest from the medical and scientific community.

As the Forum continues to grow in scale, depth, and international recognition, preparations for the 2026 edition are already underway. With year-over-year expansion and increasing thematic ambition, next year’s Forum is expected to further broaden the exploration of scientific, technological, and healthcare challenges shaping the future of medicine across the CEE region.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all Forum partners and contributors, whose commitment and support make it possible for the Galien Forum CEE to evolve and strengthen its impact year after year. More about the Forum
